Special Meeting

From the President

I am very proud of the civic association’s work in the past year. Programs have included three candidates nights and presentations from Cherrydale Library and the Madison Center. The Arlington Police have regularly visited to keep us informed of happenings in our neighborhood, and 9 issues of The Current were published. Our August Summer Social at Potomac Overlook was a success. In addition to underwriting the summer jazz concert, we met our neighbors and generated interest in the Neighbor-hood Conservation (NC) Plan. In that regard, a big thanks goes to Ned Rhodes and his committee for their many hours of hard work on the Plan. A thank you also to Dan Radke for his work on stream cleanup and for putting together and submitting DRCA’s Small Parks grant proposal to the County.

Going forward, our priorities will be to continue to increase the association’s membership and participation by volunteers, continue the work on the NC Plan, develop a long-term business plan to ensure that we will be able to publish the newsletter and cover other expenses, and to help ensure that Donaldson Run remains a desirable community in which to live.

If you have any suggestions for our meetings or wish to help, please call.

                                                Peter Fallon

DRCA Candidates Night

The DRCA held a Candidates Night on October 13th   for citizens to meet the candidates prior to Election Day on Tuesday, November 2nd. Peter Fallon invited all candidates who were listed on the ballot to the meeting. The candidates who were able to attend the gathering to answer our questions concerning transportation, I-66, parking, in-fill houses, education and school bonds included County Board candidates Paul Ferguson, Frances Finta, and Michael Lane; School Board candidates Sharon Davis and David Foster; House of Delegates candidates Bob Brink and John Massoud; and State Senate candidates Mary Margaret Whipple and Scott Tate. County Board candidate Charles Monroe was unable to attend, as he had to attend a zoning meeting. The DRCA wishes to thank all those who were able to come and answer our questions.
