Minutes of March Meeting

The election of new officers for 2000, a vote to amend the Association's constitution, and approval of the Neighborhood Conservation Plan (NCP) topped the agenda during the March DRCA meeting.

New DRCA officers are:
    President:  Peter Fallon
    First Vice President:  Carol Fontein
    Second Vice President:  Anne Wilson
    Secretary:  Maxine Nagel
    Treasurer:  Ned W. Rhodes
    Directors:  Theresa Fallon, John Burlingame,

Stephen Grand, and Sherwin Landfield.

Following the election of officers, Peter thanked the previous board members for their past service. In particular, Peter thanked George Saxton, who served for 12 years as the Association’s Treasurer.  In addition to his duties as treasurer, George  main-tained the mailing list for The Current. Following Peter’s comments, members approved a consti-tutional amendment that will permit the DRCA executive board to take action on time-sensitive issues that arise between regularly scheduled meetings.  Carol Fontein explained that

amendment will permit the Board to act quickly on future funding opportunities made possible by DRCA's Neighborhood Conservation Plan.

With respect to the NC Plan, members voted to endorse the plan as representative of community consensus and to support moving forward with the
County approval process (see article, page 3).

In another vote, DRCA members approved a resolution with respect to the new operators of the cellular antennas atop the Lee Heights Pumping Station (water tower).  That resolution recognizes DRCA's continuing interest in the operation of the antennas and requests that Omni Communications (the new operator) seek operating approval through the public review process and the Arlington County Board.
