November Minutes

A discussion of a plan to renovate the Greenbrier Fields at Yorktown High School dominated the last Donaldson Run Civic Association (DRCA) meeting,
which was held on Monday, November 13 at Taylor Elementary School. DRCA President Peter Fallon presided over the meeting, which included a
presentation by Michele Creedon of the Yorktown PTA.  (Please see Ms. Creedon's article, page 2.)  Following Ms. Creedon's presentation, DRCA members voted unanimously to support the PTA's efforts to have the fields renovated and to add ample parking at the fields provided that the wishes of the adjacent neighbors are taken into consideration. Following the Greenbrier Fields presentation, Neighborhood Conservation (NC) Plan Chairman Ned Rhodes reported on the status of the NC plan  and Anne Wilson gave an update on the status of DRCA neighborhood signs.  (See separate articles on

NC Plan and neighborhood signs.)

After polling assembled DRCA members, Fallon decided to cancel the December meeting.  The next regular monthly DRCA meeting will be held at
Taylor Elementary School on Monday, January 22, 2001, at 7:30 p.m.

Neighborhood Sign Update

Below is one of the drawings received from the company that will be making our neighborhood signs.  The design incorporates the changes sug-gested by the civic association at the September meeting.  It is anticipated that the funding for the signs will be approved at the December meeting of the Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Committee and that the locations for the signs will be finalized at the January DRCA meeting.
